TLC Ushers In New Distribution Concept - The MACC

November 1, 2005 --- Officials at TLC (Total Logistic Control), a leader in supply chain services, announced today the official opening of the Midwest MACC. The "Mixing and Configuration Center" drastically lowers logistic costs while improving the effectivenss of the cold supply chain.
The MACC is a new solution to maximizing customer service levels of temperature controlled products while minimizing LTL shipments and reducing inventory. As a single distribution point, it provides on-demand truckload volumes to the distribution centers that it serves. In addition, the MACC provides services such as assortment building, bundling and over-wrapping.
Ideal products for the MACC include slow moving frozen and temperature controlled items, such as entrees, desserts, meats, or specialty foods. Any product currently shipping in LTL quantities would benefit from the MACC.

Located in Milwaukee, WI, the MACC currently serves the regional SUPERVALU distribution centers. The second phase of the MACC will enable vendors to not just service SUPERVALU DC’s but those of other grocer’s in the region as well. Additional locations of the MACC concept are expected in the Northeast and Southeast.
