TLC Announces 10 Year Rail Service Agreement
10.01.04
Agreement enables continued expansion of strategic hub
Zeeland, MI . . . Officials at TLC (Total Logistic Control), a leading supply chain services company, announce a 10 year exclusive contract with the City of Rochelle, IL (Rochelle) to provide railcar switching and placement service to industrial rail users located on the City lead track. Rochelle is strategically located at the most eastern intersection of the main lines of both the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) and Union Pacific (UP) railroads.
Operating as Hub City Intermodal, (Hub City) TLC currently provides switching service for six companies, handling about 4,500 railcars annually. Rochelle is extending its lead track nearly two miles to accommodate growth and several additional companies are in the process of, or have already made a commitment to locate on this important rail spur. As a short line railroad operator, Hub City is paid by the contracted rail carrier with a portion of the fee rebated to the City to help re-coup land and rail expansion costs. Commenting on this announcement, TLC President and COO, Bob Koerner, said, “We are pleased to extend our partnership with the City of Rochelle in what has been a mutually beneficial relationship. TLC is able to continue to serve its major customers who utilize rail for both in and outbound freight, and the City can negotiate with prospective residents of the industrial park with the assurance that excellent rail service will be provided.” Commenting for Rochelle, City Manager, Joe Salitros said, “TLC has been an important employer and outstanding corporate citizen in Rochelle since 1986 and has provided dependable rail switching service to neighboring line industries for almost fifteen years. During this period, we have never had a complaint or service failure and we are pleased TLC has agreed to serve the needs of all industries that choose to locate in Rochelle on the City lead track. The recent $181 million investment by the UP in an intermodal facility last year further confirms the City’s location as a strategic shipping or origin point for anyone for whom rail offers an advantage.” Contact Information:
